Nine months ago, I was hired to market new TopGolf site openings. Ironically, it takes nine months to build a TopGolf.
As of today, I now have one TopGolf baby birthed (aka TopGolf Austin), and I am preparing for four locations that are under construction. No need to wait to hear their names, as we did with the royal baby birth of Prince George Alexander Louis! My new babies’ names are TopGolf The Colony, TopGolf Houston North, TopGolf Alpharetta and TopGolf at Riverwalk (in Scottsdale, AZ).
Marketing a new TopGolf site includes all the typical marketing efforts such as recording radio ads, placing digital media ads and looking at billboards. But the great thing about TopGolf is we do nothing typical! Marketing at TopGolf means hiring cool people to drive around the city in our decked -out TopGolf van. It’s planning a star-studded grand opening VIP party for 600+ people. It entails finding the outrageous social media fans to dress up and take pictures of themselves to win tickets to our awesome grand opening party. A big part of my job is to find the best things each city has to offer so we can incorporate what’s fun and unique about that place and bring it all to life at TopGolf.
After just finishing my first-ever groundbreaking ceremony that involved a blessing and traditional Native American dance, I can’t wait to find the next unique element to bring to each of my babies.
As the only TopGolf marketing team member who is an “actual mother, I can honestly say after just opening TopGolf Austin, it has truly been the birthing of my baby. The planning, preparation, love and care that goes into physically constructing the building, hiring the Associates and planning the marketing activities is truly a labor of love.
